First Day!

My first day was awesome!  I got there about an hour early, so I had plenty of time to see some parts of the school and get to know some of the staff.  My mentor got to the school 30 to 40 minutes after I did, but when he did get there he was really nice, he came to school even though he could barely talk-- he was sick.  Pretty much everyone I met was really nice and gave me some kind of advice about working at a school.  The kids in my class are completely adorable, they're a mix of kindergarten and first grade.  Many of them started the school year not knowing English and now know a lot, which shows me that they're really smart kids and that they have a good teacher.  They taught me a few Spanish words while they were reading me stories they wrote about themselves.  I helped the kids do their addition/subtraction worksheets and helped a little bit with their reading.  I also helped them learn words, and play math games during their stations activity.  And at recess I was pulled in 6 different directions because everyone wanted to play with me...I had to really act like an authority figure when they started pushing each other.  They're all really sweet kids though, a few troublemakers, but that makes it fun.  I also got to hear a few songs they use to remember seasons and months, and got 3 beautiful drawings.  I can't wait until next week!

Still Looking:

Again, I didn't go to an internship on January 27th.  I waited all week for the principal at Ruus elementary school to email or call me, but he never did.  I thought I should give him time to respond, but it kinda of backfired because I still didn't have an internship.  I spent the day checking my email about every 10 minutes, hoping I would have a new message...but I didn't get any emails.  I was getting really disappointed after it had been a whole week since I had tried to talk to Ruus' principal.  However, the next day I started to really try again.

Post 2:

Since I didn't have an internship on January 20th, I spent the day trying to get an internship.  I went to Ruus elementary school to see if I could intern there, but the office manager told me that the principal wasn't available for me to talk to him about the internship.  So I went home and found phone numbers and email addresses for some other schools just in case the internship at Ruus didn't work out.  I also wrote a short paragraph explaining the WLE and who I was so I could email the schools.  The rest of the day all I could do was wait for the principal at Ruus to email or call me about being an intern there.

Post 1: How I plan to get my WLE: January 6th

I am looking for an internship as a teacher.  So far I have found phone numbers and email addresses to schools.  I was absent on the Wednesday that I was supposed to be at Job Shadow Day because I was sick, but the next day I started working to get my internship.  My next steps are to contact all the schools I've found, and try to get at least one interview set up.
